First poll launched shows comparisons of life in Canada to home country

Insights West is pleased to announce the launch of Your Insights Multicultural Panel—a market research online community of 2,100+ British Columbians of Chinese and South Asian ethnic heritage. This groundbreaking panel is now available to assess the opinions of this diverse and growing segment of the population.

According to the most recent 2011 Statistics Canada Census, 27% of BC residents are of visible minority and two particular ethnic populations, Chinese and South Asian, comprise 64% of this group, or 751,000 persons in our province. Recognizing a need for better, faster, and more affordable access to the large and important multicultural population, Insights West has created Your Insights Multicultural Panel to review the opinions of this large and growing segment of society. Using a variety of creative recruiting approaches to target these groups where they live, work and play, we have built the Your Insights Multicultural Panel to become the strongest and most representative multicultural panel in Western Canada, offering affordable, on-demand access to the opinions and perspectives of the Chinese and South Asian populations in the province.

“British Columbia is regarded as one of the most ethnically diverse regions in the world,” said Steve Mossop, President of Insights West. “Until now this group has been under-represented in public opinion polling and marketing research due to cost constraints and a lack of know-how. As a Western-based polling company with roots in Vancouver, our view at Insights West is that it is extremely important that we enable clients with an opportunity to tap into the opinions and perspectives of these important segments of the population.”

On the Your Insights Multicultural Panel, surveys can be conducted online in English, traditional and simplified Chinese, targeting consumers based on length of time in Canada, country of origin, languages spoken and a variety of other demographics. We currently have more than 2,100 engaged panellists and have an ambitious plan to grow this to 4,000 by the end of 2014.

In conjunction with this announcement, Insights West is sharing the results of the very first publicly released survey conducted on this panel, which looks at the comparisons between life in Canada and life in our respondents’ home countries. The results of this survey can be accessed here.
